A dynamic, international leader in the vegetable seed industry is looking to add to their passionate and knowledgeable team by appointing an ambitious and motivated Seed Sales Representative to service the Limpopo province.

This is a full-time role which will work best for someone happy to be based around the Polokwane area.

Reporting to the Area Manager the role will focus on maintaining the existing market share whilst developing new opportunities for business.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Creating, maintaining and improving relationships with growers/ farmers, nurseries, packhouses, food processors and retail outlets;
  • Supporting the team as a whole (locally and on a broader scale);
  • Implementing the commercial strategy set out by the Area Manager (visits to farmers, provision of informed technical advice, placing of orders and assisting with seed order forecasting);
  • Assisting the Area Manager and other colleagues with planting and evaluation of trials and the capturing and assessing this data for future market development.
  • Assisting with logistical issues and also assisting with seed deliveries from time to time.

The company prides itself on building long term relationships and providing their clients with the best products and knowledge. The Sales Rep will be required to uphold the ethos of the company and be ready to learn the product range in order to meet sales targets and to further entrench the success of the company by adding value and driving product development through client interaction. Travel will be required (around 4000 to 7000km per month) with visits to the Gauteng office required at least once a month and other possible national/international visits required occasionally.


  • Matric
  • A relevant tertiary qualification (preferred)
  • 2+ years of experience in either hands-on vegetable crop production or sales of related products to vegetable farmers (chemicals, seeds, tunnels, growing media etc.)
  • A people-oriented approach and natural team player
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills (English & Afrikaans)
  • Self-confident and comfortable making suggestions and taking on new challenges
  • Excellent administration and organisational ability (record keeping, logistics) with sound numeracy skills
  • Self-motivated and able to work alone without direct supervision
  • A true passion for the horticultural industry
  • Must be computer literate, hold a valid driver’s license and willing to travel.
Salary Details:

The company offers a market-related salary basic salary (between R20 000 to R40 000 per month, depending on level of experience/ qualifications) plus company contributions to retirement and medical aid. A 13th cheque is achievable and the company provides a vehicle for work use, with limited private mileage.
