An established Zambian agribusiness has an excellent opportunity available for a suitably qualified and experienced Sales Agronomist to join their team based in Mkushi.

The role falls within the Inputs division of the company which includes a variety plant pest control products, seed and other crop treatment/ support products sold direct to farmers in the region.

The Sales Agronomist will take responsibility for building excellent relationships with existing clients as well as expanding the client base by providing superior technical and product advice to solve the problems faced by crop farmers in the region. A strong focus is put on the use of biological and environmentally friendly products where appropriate.

The role reports to the Head Agronomist and will require travel to visit farmers in Mkushi itself, as well as expanding outwards towards Lusaka.


  • A relevant, degree-level tertiary qualification (required for work permit application);
  • At least 5 years of commercial experience as an Agronomist dealing with agrochemical products and the provision of sound technical advice directly to farmers;
  • Superior knowledge of the pests and diseases affecting row crops;
  • Experience working with tree crops such as macadamias and citrus will be a bonus;
  • A strong customer focus with a proven sales track record;
  • Exceptional people skills and strong English communication ability;
  • Computer literacy;
  • Clean criminal record;
  • Valid passport and drivers’ license;
  • Willingness to relocate to Mkushi and travel within the region.
Salary Details:

A comprehensive expat salary package is offered which includes a dollar-based basic salary, commission, vehicle, medical cover, 4 flights home annually as well as unfurnished accommodation (house suitable for a family, including lights and water) and 30 days leave per annum.
